Dwelling Fire at 549 Bethlehem Road

At 7:33 pm Engine 1811 was dispatched with the Catasauqua Fire Department for a dwelling fire at 549 Bethlehem Road.  First arriving police and fire officers confirmed a working fire and requested a RIT assignment from station 11 and an ambulance to the scene.

Engine 1811 arrived on scene as the third due engine and laid in nearly 1000' of 5" supply hose from a secondary hydrant.  Station 18 personnel were ordered to manpower staging while members of the Catasauqua Fire Department fought the fire.  With conditions worsening, firefighters were pulled from the interior of the structure and the 1811 engine crew was ordered to supply Catasauqua ladder 231 for an exterior attack. Once the bulk of the fire was darkened down, members assisted with overhaul as directed.  Firefighters from the department were released approximately 2 hours after arriving on the scene and spent nearly another hour repacking hose, cleaning equipment, and ensuring the apparatus was ready for the next emergency.
