Carbon Monoxide Alarm - 1662 Main Street

Engine 1811 responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at 1662 Main Street.  The caller reported CO alarm activated and occupants evacuated the residence.

Upon arrival, firefighters found no carbon monoxide in the residence.  The alarm was located and found to be in an error mode likely due to the alarm's age.  Firefighters recommended the homeowners purchase a new alarm to replace the old one and advised to call again if there are any further problems.

Many citizens are not aware that carbon monoxide alarms have a recommended lifespan of a couple months up to 5-7 years depending on detector type.  If your CO detector is approaching that age, think about replacing it.
