2010 Call Stats - A Record Breaking Year

The North Catasauqua Fire Department set a new department record in 2010, having been dispatched to 154 calls in 2010 compared to 75 in 2009, representing a 105% increase.  In fact, over a 7 year period from from 2003-2009, NCFD averaged 91 calls per year.  For the year 2010, this represents a significant increase in call volume.

The increase is largely due to an increased automatic mutual aid response with the neighboring fire departments in Catasauqua and Northampton Boroughs.  In earlier years, automatic mutual aid was often only utilized on Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:oo pm.  Due to a continued decline in the number of volunteer firefighters available at all hours of the day and even on weekends, fire departments found themselves leaning on neighbors for help and back up more frequently.

The North Catasauqua Fire Department would like to thank all officers and members for the dedication and hard work in 2010 as we  look forward to 2011.

Secret Santa 2010

CSanta and Rodney the Reindeerhristmas came a little early for some children in North Catasuqua.  Santa Claus and Rodney the Reindeer visited North Catasauqua on the morning of December 19, 2010, with a pre-Christmas delivery of some gifts and an escort by the North Catasauqua Fire Dept.

NCFD members made about 20 stops while visiting roughly 30 children. As you can see from the pictures, all of the children were very excited to have Santa stop at their house.

NCFD would like to thank all the parents and relatives that make this day a success.  We understand schedules are busy and we try our best to accomodate them.  Thanks for being patient with us.

If your children are in any of the pictures and you would like high resolution copies, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we would be glad to send them to you.
