2012 Easter Egg Hunt

Egg Hunt 2012The 2012 NCFD Easter Egg Hunt was held Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the North Catasauqua Park.  Originally scheduled for March 31, the event was rescheduled due to rain and cold temperatures.  While slightly warmer, the day was still overcast and even drizzled a bit during the final hunt.

The North Catasauqua Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter Harry Huhn on his successful completion and State certification as a Emergency Medical Technician.  The class required over 120 hours and rigorous testing requirements.  Good job Harry.

Take Out Chicken Dinners

NCFD and Cub Scout Pack 94 are jointly hosting a Take Out Chicken Dinner on Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Dinners are $7 each and can be picked up at the Slovak Center Social Club, 5th & Grove Streets in North Catty.

The North Catasauqua Fire Department finished 2011 with 179 calls.  This represents a 16% increase compared to 154 calls in 2010 and another new record for call volume in a single year.  The first call for the 2011 was dispatched on January 2 at 10:30 am for an automatic fire alarm at Sheckler Elementary School.  The last call of the year was dispatched on December 28 at 9:45 pm for a reported chimney fire at Fossil's Last Stand.  The fire was unfounded.  The old record of 154 calls was set in 2010 (2010 Call Stats - A Record Breaking Year).


Digging deeper, NCFD responded to 7 fires within the Borough of North Catasauqua -- 4 fires in private dwellings, 1 fire in a motor vehicle, 1 dumpster fire, and 1 other type fire.  In addition, there was 23 Rescue/EMS calls, 4 hazardous material calls, and gave mutual aid 115 times to surrounding communities.
