Happy New Year!!!

The members of the North Catasauqua Fire Department would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year.  We hope your 2013 is filled with happiness, success, and prosperity.

Thoughts & Prayers to Webster (NY) Fire Department

The officers and members of the North Catasauqua Fire Department send their thoughts and prayers to the family and brothers of Webster Fire Dept Lt. Michael Chiapperini, a 20 year veteran of the Webster Police Dept and a lifetime firefighter, and Firefighter and 911 Dispatcher Tomasz Kaczowka.  Lt. Chiapperini and Firefighter Kaczowka were senselessly assassinated this morning while responding to a house fire.  The shooter reportedly set the fire as a trap to attack first responders.  The fire continued to rage while police secured the scene and evacuated residents.  Three homes were engulfed in flames and burned to the ground.  Three more homes were damaged by the fire.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from the Officers and Members of the North Catasauqua Fire Department!

Please remember these holiday cooking safety tips today and through the entire holiday season.

  • Stay in the kitchen when you are frying, grilling, or broiling food. If you leave the kitchen for even a short period of time, turn off the stove.
  • If you are simmering, baking, roasting, or boiling food, check it regularly, remain in the home while food is cooking, and use a timer to remind you that you're cooking.
  • Stay alert! To prevent cooking fires, you have to be alert. You won't be if you are sleepy, have been drinking alcohol, or have taken medicine that makes you drowsy.
  • Keep anything that can catch fire - potholders, oven mitts, wooden utensils, paper or plastic bags, food packaging, towels, or curtains - away from your stovetop.
  • Keep the stovetop, burners, and oven clean.
  • Wear short, close-fitting or tightly rolled sleeves when cooking. Loose clothing can dangle onto stove burners and catch fire if it comes into contact with a gas flame or electric burner.
  • Plug microwave ovens and other cooking appliances directly into an outlet. Never use an extension cord for a cooking appliance, as it can overload the circuit and cause a fire.

Rest Easy Brothers

The North Catasauqua Fire Department sends their deepest thoughts and condolences to the family, friends, Brothers, and Sisters of Phildelphia Fire Dept Lieutenant Robert Neary and Firefighter Daniel Sweeney. You have made the ultimate sacrifice in serving your fellow man. Rest easy Brothers. Never forget.
